A major donation from the Pollock Family Foundation in memory of Mimi and Sam Pollock will be used to build a refrigerated skating rink in North Hatley. Bravo and thank you to the foundation!

The question on everyone’s lips: where/when will the refrigerated rink be installed? Are we talking about a field hockey rink or a walking rink? Everyone is very excited.

According to citizens and council, several studies are underway. Initially, I thought the skating rink would be set up in Parc de la rivière, where the current rink is located.tuelle patinoire.

According to many, this would not be possible for reasons unknown to me. It’s a perfect location, with a building equipped with changing rooms and bathrooms. What’s more, there’s a parking lot big enough to accommodate the wave of visitors who will come from all over the Eastern Townships to skate freely and/or play field hockey. Some say the rink will even have a roof! Amazing!

A rink like this is an attraction in itself, and even more so if you can play field hockey. Take the time to play field hockey in Sherbrooke on rue Belvédère. You’ll find a refrigerated rink in the bleu blanc rouge. It’s incredible! The place is extremely popular all winter long. It’s only natural, since our winters are very variable, making field hockey rinks playable only a few days a year.

Sherbrooke’s bleu blanc rouge rink brings together thousands of field hockey fans, young and old, all winter long. I have friends who drive 30-40 minutes to play field hockey there. With its national lanes and unrivalled ice quality all winter long, it’s well worth the trip!

The rink is located in an underprivileged neighborhood. The rink acts as a gathering place for everyone, no matter where they come from. What a great initiative!

North Hatley will also have its own refrigerated skating rink, bringing together not only the citizens of the village, but also young and old from all over the Eastern Townships.

Obviously, a field hockey rink is more attractive than a hiking rink. That’s normal, since field hockey is our national sport. However, in both cases, it’s a great opportunity to energize the village and get organized to welcome this wave of people during the off-season.

I even saw a zamboni in the River Park parking lot last year. Did I hallucinate? Wow, we even have a zamboni in North Hatley! No doubt an ice rink of this quality requires special maintenance. It’s no longer a matter of getting out the hose and watering in cold weather.ntretien particulier.  Il ne s’agit plus de sortir le boyau d’arrosage et d’arroser par temps froid.

I can’t wait to strap on my skates and those of my boys and enjoy this experience in the village. My family and friends are also informed and already ready to hit the road for this experience.

On that note, sharpen your skates and bang your field hockey sticks, because we’ll finally be skating all winter long!

Other refrigerated skating rink projects are on the drawing board in the Memphrémagog MRC. Congratulations!
