I invite you to follow them on Facebook.
I asked several people if they had received information about the antique car event at North Hatley River Park. None of them knew about the event. Fortunately, you couldn’t miss the event if you stopped by the River Park. No doubt the municipality’s newsletter went into some junk mail. It happens! I also checked the Municipality of North Hatley’s website and Facebook and there were no announcements, at least in the last month. I found the subject in the June 2 municipal council agenda and also on the Friends of Lake Massawippi group. Thanks to the Friends of Lake Massawippi!
Antique cars were in abundance at the Parc des Rivières, and so were curious onlookers. A park filled with antique cars, each more exceptional than the last, to the amazement of young and old alike. Several children spent hours reviewing each car. What’s more, Mother Nature was kind and offered us perfect weather for the event.

Young children marvelled at the event and joined in with their little cars.
For my part, when the village fills up with people gathered around such an event, I’m also amazed. Of course, this means traffic and parking, and no doubt waste management afterwards. Such an event requires the involvement of the municipality to ensure safety and cleanliness. However, it brings life to the heart of North Hatley village. Has it benefited village merchants? I asked a few merchants how they felt about the event’s impact on their businesses.
To my eye, the event seemed to be a success. No doubt some citizens saw their village invaded by strangers and the quality of life in the village reduced during the event. There are always two sides to a coin, depending on which side you look at it from.
On that note, I’d like to congratulate you on to the Eastern Township Vintage Automobile Club.t, which amazed many people and energized the village.
