According to the July 7 city council meeting, the North Hatley municipal administration is scheduled to return to its renovated offices in September. According to statements made by the North Hatley municipal director general on July 7, there is a problem with the architectural plans. The municipality must obtain mechanical and electrical engineering plans for the outlets. According to the director general, the North Hatley municipality will return to its premises on Capelton in September.

Work in progress since May

In fact, the renovations date back to at least early May, since citizens were going to the wrong address because they had not been informed of the move. Furthermore, the municipality’s website had not posted the change of address or updated its Google listing.

It is now September 21, 2025, and here is the current situation. I will let you judge the progress for yourselves.

Is it true that the work is aimed at removing mold from the walls?

In fact, several citizens have told me that the renovations were necessary because the roof had been neglected for many years, leading to water leaks and mold growth. Everything had to be torn out to clean up the mold. No doubt these are just rumors.

if the rumors are true could the mold also be on the side of the CPE?

The rumors that City Hall is being renovated due to water infiltration and mold are undoubtedly unfounded. However, if this is not the case and it is indeed true, the daycare center next door should be informed of the situation. As I recall, the roof was just as rotten throughout the entire building, not just on the administrative office side. That would be scandalous! Could there have been mold on the daycare center side as well?

When will the work on City Hall be completed? We must not forget that the municipality is paying rent for its temporary premises. It also had to pay to move into these premises and will have to pay to move out and move back in again once the work is completed.

On that note, happy voting on November 2!
