I am very surprised to learn that the current municipal administration of North Hatley is preparing to present its master plan this Tuesday, September 23, even though major construction projects are already underway. This means that important land use decisions have already been made, regardless of what you think.
So, your opinion is important, provided that you agree with the current municipal administration.
How is that possible?
The municipal administration is moving forward with calls for tenders for the demolition and reconstruction of the beach building, has already given the green light for the construction of 22 housing units in Parc de la Rivière, and has approved the construction of a refrigerated ice rink even before presenting its master plan, which aims to harmonize the village’s architecture.
How is that possible?
The municipal administration is making important construction and development decisions even before its master plan, financed by a completely anonymous donation, has been presented to the public.
The master plan, which does not yet exist, provides for these major developments even if the public disagrees. The decisions have therefore already been made!
How is that possible?
The current municipal administration is acting autocratically by deciding what is good or bad for the population, implementing major construction and demolition projects before even presenting its development plan and obtaining its opinion. It is difficult to adjust to citizens’ opinions once the projects are underway!
