As you’ve no doubt noticed, the weather is not at all kind. The rain never stops falling. The water in the river is as high as when the snow melted! The docks are almost submerged and it’s now May 23.

I’ve been out fishing almost every day, and I’ve noticed that there are few, if any, boaters on Lake Massawippi. Few boats docked and a few parked at the marina. I’ve only seen a few boats in the last few weeks, but nothing more. Mostly fishermen dressed like bears looking for a nice lake trout!

Every time I cross the bridges in North Hatley to go fishing, I see the seriousness of the situation. Yesterday, I began to doubt that I could even cross the concrete bridge. I hope I’m worrying for nothing! The water is already very, very high and they’re forecasting more rain today and all weekend!

I offer assistance to boaters who would still like to get out on the lake despite the impossibility of crossing the wooden bridge. There is a way to get to the end, and the risk of breaking your propeller is minimal, since the water is high. Unless you have a 14-foot rowboat, you can’t go under the pedestrian bridge.

If you go to the far end, at least you’ll be able to take a little walk on the lake. I have a feeling you’ll have to get used to it, as Mother Nature isn’t looking too kind.

On that note, don’t hesitate if you need any help!
