Take advantage of the North Hatley descent to lower your boat for free, with no washing required. Since April 25, the gate has been open 24 hours a day, with no surveillance, washing or payment of access fees. Even today, May 7, 2025, the barrier is open without restriction.

According to the municipality, this poses no danger to invasive species, as the water is very cold. One thing’s for sure, it’s a savings for boaters, since the price of a run, parking and wash in Ayer’s Cliff is $60. It’s the same at Lake Memphremagog. No boat may be lowered without washing and paying the access fee. Indeed, this is essential to control access, contamination and generate revenue for the city. The base!

I give the benefit of the doubt to the municipality of North Hatley that there is no danger of contamination in the spring. However, I’m going to contact an acquaintance who has a doctorate in biology and is a specialist in invasive species to help me understand and reassure me that the cold water is currently at 50-52 Farenheit.

For now, it’s making it easier for both boaters and the municipality to manage the North Hatley boat launch.

Happy sailing in cold water, albeit soon at 60 Farenheit!
