Talking to people, I realize that there are no fishing activities in North Hatley during the weekend of the Fête de la pêche. June 6 to 8, 2025, is the 25th edition. Yet hundreds of municipalities and associations across Quebec organize activities to celebrate the pleasures of fishing. The activities are aimed primarily at families, and children in particular, to introduce them to and encourage the practice of this wonderful activity. During these three days, anyone can fish without a fishing licence, with the exception of Atlantic salmon.
Some associations, such as the Comité de la fête de la pêche de Sherbrooke, work with schools to organize sport fishing courses.
Yet Lake Massawippi is one of Quebec’s most beautiful bodies of water. According to friends and family, 35,000 trout were stocked this weekend for the Fête de la pêche. I searched the websites of the municipalities and also the Facebook of the Club de conservation du lac Massawippi and couldn’t find any activity. I’m skeptical because the club is very active. There’s probably an activity on the Ayer’s Cliff side. If you see anything, drop me a line.
Otherwise, I think I’m going to put a team of passionate fishing volunteers and the Fish le Camp team on the North Hatley fishing festival in 2026.
On that note, have a great fishing weekend!
